Fr. Lindauer and Roger Emmert were the co-managers, and soon they had signed up fourteen girls in what turned out to be a most successful season. All of the games were played at Helfrich Field on Evansville's west side and started at 6:00 PM. The season started on June 2nd with a win over St. Boniface, 9-7, and as it seemed our girls improved with each succeeding game. The regular season was completed with a winning record of 15 wins and 1 loss. This record surely showed determination on the part of the team in this accomplishment. Ironically the only loss came about when our girls had to start the game without some of the team members, who had been in an accident at the first curve past St. James Church, on the Old Princeton Road. As the driver, Roger Emmert, attempted to round the curve, the car overturned and landed on its top. No one was seriously injured, and soon they were on their way to the game. Of course, arriving late made the players on the field quite anxious. When told of the accident it seemed to unnerve the girls who were already playing, and thus, our only loss came about. A playoff was held, and our girls showed their best by winning 2 out of 3, thus ending a brilliant and fun season with 17 wins and the one loss. The following girls were members of this team: Dorothy Meny, Elvira Meny, Wilma Meny, Anna Lee Meny, Irma Knapp, Norma Emmert, Alice Woehler, Estelle Wolfe, Mildred Lutz, Edna Knapp, Mary Kramer, Betty Martin, Edna Kramer, and Margie Schmits.
